The Department of Cognitive Psychology, located at Universität Hamburg, is inviting researchers of exceptional talent to apply for a 2 year post-doc position (E13, 100%; extension possible) at the intersection of Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. The starting date is negotiable, as from September 2024.

We are inviting highly qualified researchers holding a PhD in Psychology, Medicine, Neuroscience, or a related discipline who share our enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research. We expect excellent methodological skills and statistical knowledge, coding skills (e.g. MATLAB, Phython, R), expertise in at least one cognitive-neuroscientific method (e.g. fMRI, EEG, Psychophysiology, cognitive modelling), as well as experience in scientific publishing, documented by at least one publication as first author in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Your responsibilities

Duties primarily include teaching and research. Research associates may also
pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.

The applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the labs
research on stress, emotion and cognitive functions. He/she should plan,
organize, conduct and analyze research projects independently and
publish the findings of these projects in peer-reviewed scientific
journals. The applicant is further expected to prepare a proposal for
third party funding. The position involves teaching of 3h/wk.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate.

Further requirements:

  • excellent knowledge in the fields of Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience
  • excellent English communication skills
  • excellent methodological and statistical skills
  • experience in scientific publishing; documented by at least one
    publication as first author in a peer-reviewed scientific journal
  • expertise in at least two cognitive-neuroscientific methods (e.g. fMRI, EEG, Psychophysiology, cognitive modelling)
  • reliability and ability to work in a team
  • programming skills (in particular in MATLAB or Phython) are expected
