PhD position (TVöD E13 / 75%) on the neuroscience of expectation effects in
emotional processing
Research project
The present project addresses the role of explicit and implicit regulation in emotional expectation effects by combining EEG, Eyetracking and behavioral paradigms in healthy participants and depressed inpatients. The project is part of the DFG funded interdisciplinary collaboration center CRC 289 on “Treatment expectation” (https://treatment-expectation.de/), in which international top-class scientists from the field of expectation and placebo are involved.
Location
The project is located within the Lifespan Neuroscience Group (head: Stefanie Brassen) at the Institute of Systems Neuroscience (ISN, head: Christian Büchel) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany.

Requirements for the PhD position
ï· MSc or an equivalent degree in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, or a related discipline
ï· Keen interest in cognitive and computational neuroscience
ï· Experience in programming (e.g., Python, Matlab)
ï· Very good statistical knowledge
ï· Fluent in English and German
ï· Experience with psychophysiological and peripheral physiological data analysis would be an advantage
Salary is based on German regulations (TVöD-13, for PhD positions with the factor 75%). The appointment will be for 4 years. Start date is flexible.
