PhD position in Cognitive Neuroscience (65% TVöD 13)

The Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-3, Forschungszentrum Jülich) is advertising a PhD position in Cognitive Neuroscience

Your Job:

The successful candidate will be part of the INM-3 Attention and Prediction Group and will investigate prediction-dependent information processing in the healthy brain and after stroke under supervision of Prof. Simone Vossel. This includes:

  • Design, acquisition and analysis of behavioural, neuropsychological and neuroimaging data in healthy volunteers and stroke patients
  • Implementation of analysis algorithms
  • Presentation and publication of the results
  • Interaction with international team members and collaborators from Psychology, Medicine, and Computational Neuroscience

Your Profile:

  • Completed study (Diploma/Master) in Cognitive (Neuro)science, Psychology, Biology, or related discipline
  • An affinity with programming, including demonstrable programming skill in Matlab, Python or R
  • Excellent English and good German communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Intrinsic motivation, initiative, and an ability to work independently
  • Previous research experience with experimental psychology or cognitive neuroscience techniques (e.g. psychophysics, EEG, fMRI, TMS etc.) is desirable

The position is for a fixed term of 3 years. Pay in line with 65% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additionally 60 % of a monthly salary as special payment („Christmas bonus“). Pay higher than the basic pay may be possible.
