The Department of Neuropsychology seeks to fill a PhD student position under the supervision of Prof. Markus Ullsperger and Dr. Jana Tegelbeckers in the project C04 „Restoring neural resources perturbed by sleep deprivation“. The project is part of the interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Center 1436 „Neural Resources of Cognition“ fostering interactions of neuroscientists working on micro-, meso-, and macroscopic scales. The four-year project will apply methods of cognitive neuroscience, specifically fMRI and EEG (also simultaneous), eye-tracking and pupillometry, multivariate pattern classification analyses and computational modeling, and will modulate neural resources of healthy participants using sleep deprivation, focused transcranial ultrasound stimulation, and pharmacological challenges. The position enables writing a dissertational thesis.
Requirements profile:
- - Master’s degree or equivalent in Psychology, Neuroscience or Medicine
- - Experience with one of the above-mentioned cognitive neuroscience methods is beneficial
- - Programming skills in MATLAB, R or Python
- - Interest in research on performance/error monitoring, cognitive control, and sleep deprivation
- - Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to the CRC research environment
